The Certified International Investment Analysts (CIIA) course introduced by ICFAI Education Lanka will provide adequate exposure to emerging areas such as equity and debt research, scientific asset allocation, portfolio management of mutual funds and insurance, said Association of Certified International Investment Analysts, Switzerland Deputy Chairman Jean-Francois Balmary.

He was addressing a media conference at the launch of the CIIA program at the Hotel Taj Samudra on Thursday.

Balmary said that the one-year CIIA program would equip the students with special skills which would be essential in the light of globalisation of investment markets and the course would ensure that the CIIA holder would have the required skills and knowledge needed for professionals working in major financial centres across the world.

Balmary said that CIIA was currently recognised and supported by the world's leading Federations such as European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS), Asian Securities Analysts Federation (ASAF) and in over 23 countries such as Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxemberg, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand and Ukraine.

ICFAI University Vice President Sanjay Ramchanani said that ICFAI Education Lanka was set up in 2004 and had been following a unique set of educational methodology which consisted of self-study, latest curriculum, assignments, case-based learning and added that the Web support would help the students in preparing for the CIIA international examinations, besides supplementing their efforts through self study.

He also said that ICFAI Education Lanka offers three-year general and four-year special bachelors degree programs in Commerce, Information technology, Business administration on a fulltime basis and the MBA program on a part time and distance learning basis.
