Navy, Ladies champion rowers

Navy and Ladies showed skills at the 22nd National Rowing Championships on the Beira Waters yesterday.

Navy and Ladies carried away the Gerry Silva Trophy for men's senior overall category and J. M. Perera Trophy for senior category respectively.

Sailors also won the intermediate men's title and was presented the Eraj Wijesinghe Trophy.

Ladies who retained the senior women's category title away four trophies: J. M. Perera Trophy for seniors, Colombo Rowing Club Trophy in the women's intermediate events, Flipper Trophy for Junior girls and also the Nihal Silva Trophy for school girl scullers event. Royal carried away the Nalin Mendis Trophy for their performance in the junior boys category.

Navy oarsmen won the sculls, double sculls and pairs events while they were placed runner up in the four (Boat Race) to Colombo Rowing Club. Bassin Hassan of St. Joseph's won the Schoolboy Sculler event, while Uvani Atapattu of Musaeus won the Schoolgirl Sculler event.

Sunil Amarasekera, CEO of Mobitel was the chief guest.
