Sangaree invites Karunanidhi
The TULF Leader V. Anandasangaree in a letter to the Tamil Nadu Chief
Minister M. Karunanidhi has urged his intervention in the solution to
the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka. He said that the Sinhalese were
willing to accommodate his intervention. The people of Sri Lanka like to
lead a peaceful life, Anandasangaree asserted.
"At this stage if you visit Sri Lanka, Sinhala people will welcome
you wholeheartedly. I appeal to you to visit the Island on behalf of the
Tamils. The Sinhalese, Muslims and majority of Tamils oppose only the
division of the country but not a solution based on federalism. Though
the North and East are the traditional areas of Tamil speaking people,
the number of these people living among the Sinhalese is much more.
The International Community and the European Union emphasise a
federal solution," Anandasangaree had pointed out.
Anandasangaree has said that the two major parties in Sri Lanka have
decided to solve the conflict based on federalism. He believed that
other political parties too would support the solution. The solution
based on the Constitution of India has been widely welcomed.
There are possibilities to grant the powers enjoyed by Tamil Nadu to
other areas in Sri Lanka. Anandasanagree has claimed that Mr.
Karunanaidhi had the capability to create such an opportunity. |
