37 players in training pool

Sri Lanka Schools Football Association has picked a pool of 37
players after a series of trials. These 37 players are now in the
training pool in preparation for the 34th Asian under-18 Schools
Football Championships to be held August 8 to 18 in Vietnam.
Upali Silva, Secretary Sri Lanka Schools Football Association said
that the selection of the training squad was made by the officials of
the Football Federation of Sri Lanka together with the Schools FA. The
first training session will begin on June 2 and will continue on June 3
and 4 and the players are requested to be present on June 2 at 2 p.m. T.
F. Samath FFSL qualified coach will be in charge of the training squad.
Samath will be assisted by W. S. Nandasiri the Sports Instructor of St.
Joseph's College, Anuradhapura.
Twelve countries Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia,
Singapore, Malaysia, China, India, Brunaie, Chinese Taipei, Sri Lanka,
Vietnam will dribble at the championships. Silva added that the final 18
players will be picked by end of June. The selected players will have to
bear all expenses including Air Ticket and accommodation.
Upali Silva, Secretary, SLSFA of De Mazenod College will be in charge
of the team while Rohan Rosa, the Treasurer of the SLSFA of St. Mary's
College, Negombo will be the assistant to Silva.
At the last championships held in Indonesia, Sri Lanka Schools
Football team finished 7th position. |
