INTEL and ICTA accelerate e-Sri Lanka PC program
Intel and the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri
Lanka (ICTA) are accelerating the e-Sri Lanka program to drive the
adoption of PCs in Sri Lanka. This program is designed to help its
citizens adopt and use technology to help them experience the benefit of
digital inclusion.
Through this program, the e-Sri Lanka PC is now available on
extremely affordable monthly instalments. This financing solution is
provided in collaboration with the National Savings Bank (NSB). Helping
all new e-Sri Lanka PC users to begin using the technology, is a
trilingual call centre, set up to provide technical assistance to the
new users. The third and most important solution is making the e-Sri
Lanka PC easily available. This PC can now be purchased islandwide
through Intel's network of resellers.
The e-Sri Lanka PC is part of the government's efforts and Intel's
vision to create a knowledge-based society by offering a PC that is
affordable and widely available in Sri Lanka. The e-Sri Lanka PC Program
was launched jointly by Intel and ICTA in a drive to create awareness on
the benefits of owning PCs and using software and the Internet to
enhance efficiencies.
Vice President, Channel Platforms Group, Intel Corporation Shane D.
Wall said, "The barriers to adoption of PCs in emerging markets such as
Sri Lanka include affordability, accessibility and awareness. Intel is
committed to driving programs to address these barriers. Intel is
helping governments and other organisations, of emerging markets to
foster increased PC ownership and IT literacy. Through this program
Intel is enhancing lives by accelerating access to uncompromised
technology." |
