Fowzie warns IOC: Sell petrol or face take over

Minister of Transport and Petroleum Development A. H. M. Fowzie has decided to take over all fuel retail outlets of the Lanka Indian Oil Company within 30 days, unless they resume selling petrol.

No other option but to retructure C.E.B

The government has no other option but to restructure the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB)and the proposed bill will be placed before the parliament within next few weeks, the Minister of Power and Energy W. J. M. Senaviratne told the Sunday Observer.

INDIA : Indian and Chinese traders cross the China-India border at the 15,000-feet (4,545-metre) Nathula Pass, in India�s northeastern state of Sikkim. India and China reopened a famed Silk Road pass in the Himalayas, allowing the first direct border trade between the Asian giants since their brutal frontier war 44 years ago. Merchants were greeted on each side with silk scarves, music and folk dancing after crossing the border through a stone-walled passageway that has replaced the barbed wire that had kept them apart since 1962.
