Boralesgamuwe Wimalasiri Perera felicitation ceremony

The 15th death anniversary of Boralesgamuwe Wimalasiri Perera a poet, writer, Senior Journalist and former Editor Silumina, Sarasaviya and Navayugaya will be held on July 19 at 3.30 p.m. at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (A Committee Hall) along with the launching of the book "Wimalasiri Perera Prarochana (Felicitation Volume)" edited by former editor of Sarasaviya Senior Journalist A. D. Ranjith Kumara.

The ceremony will be presided over by the Chancellor of Sri Jayawardenapura University Prof. Bellanwila Wimalarathna Nayaka Thera and the Chief Guest will be the Speaker of the Parliament, W. J. M. Lokubandara. Information and Media Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Minister of Education and Higher Education Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Urban Development and Water Resources Dinesh Gunawardene and Minister of Cultural Affairs and National Heritage Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene are among the distinguished guests who are scheduled to participate in this function.

The launching of the book "Wimalasiri Perera Prarochana" will be a unique event of this function and Prof. J. B. Dissanayake, Veteran Journalist Somaweera Senanayake and film Actor Ravindra Randeniya will address the gathering.

Arrangements have also been made by the Wimalasiri Perera Commemoration Foundation to present Wimalasiri Perera Commemoration Awards to 15 young journalists chosen to represent all the national newspapers and to some veteran poets.
