Film actress leads criminal gang

An attractive actress had allegedly led a criminal gang over a period of time to commit robberies. Their target was prominent lawyers. The 'Ring leader' was allegedly an Army commando from the Ganemulla camp.

This man was killed in a recent shoot out with the police at Talangama. The gang had ransacked several homes of leading lawyers. On the pretext of seeking legal advice they studied the place and the robberies followed.

The actress has gone into hiding, according to Talangama Police Chief, Inspector, Rangith Dissanayake. Her house had been the safe haven for this six member gang. The final directive from her was to send the gang to a lawyer's house at Talangama.

There the gang robbed US dollars 300 and on their way back hijacked a vehicle of a businessman parked close to that point on a tip off. Inspector Dissanayake lay in ambush with his party at Muwangelawatte, Malabe. As the police party approached the vehicle carrying the gang, the Army Commando (Ring Leader) opened fire. Dissanayake fired back killing the suspect. It is now revealed that the gang was responsible for many murders and robbery.

Lawyers living in the outskirts of the Colombo city whose houses have been robbed can contact the Talangama police.
