Royal scrape through

Royal warded off a strong second half challenge to defeat St. Peter's College by 13 (1 goal, 1 penalty, 1 drop goal) to 6 (2 penalties) in the curtain raiser match of the school under-20 rugby season at the Royal College Sports Complex yesterday.

Peterites started off well and led 6-0 in the first session of play with fly half Ifrath Meedin firing across 35 metres penalty kicks.

Royal stormed back gamely with better passing, handling and tackling to equalise 6-all with Omar Hassen making drop goal and yet another 35 metre penalty.

In the closing stage of the game Royal came on top when Dilshan Senanayake scored under the post untouched Omar Hassen made the conversion.
