Story time: Bullet goes to Sunday school

Bullet is my pet dog. I think regular readers of the Junior Observer would remember Bullet, because I have written about his heroic deeds before. I love Bullet a lot and Bullet loves me too. This is why Bullet follows me everywhere I go.

One Sunday morning, when I dressed up and stepped out to go to Sunday school, Bullet started coming behind me. He came up to the lane, and then to the main road and right up to the temple gate. I tried to chase him away several times, but Bullet did not obey my orders.

Very confidently, Bullet entered the temple premises with me, went into my classroom and sat under my desk. My friends in the class got thoroughly excited at the sight of Bullet - who was a German Shepherd. I tried to drive out Bullet again, but failed.

The school bell rang and the classes were to begin. When the teacher in charge of my class came to the door, Bullet started barking loudly, preventing her from coming in. My teacher got very angry. She questioned as to who brought a dog to the Sunday school. Very timidly, I explained to the teacher what had happened. The teacher advised me to immediately remove the dog from the class. I got hold of Bullet's belt and pulled him out.

Still Bullet did not want to leave the temple. He was in a playful mood.

He must have noticed the little girls and boys dressed in white, standing with baskets of flowers to be offered to the Buddha. In a matter of seconds, Bullet got hold of a girl's slipper and started running around the temple garden, as fast as he could. Now the children lost fear of the dog and some of them were trying to make fun out of Bullet. The children who were scared of dogs became more scared. The head priest of the temple noticed the commotion in the temple.

He rang the temple bell to make the children silent. "Whose dog is this?" the priest questioned.

"This is Osura's dog, Sadu.

He has followed Osura to the Sunday school today", my friends answered.

The priest understood my plight. He was sympathetic towards both Bullet and me. "Please take the dog away child .... Hurry up, then come and join the puja" he said.

The sympathy of the head priest saved me from receiving punishment for the misbehaviour of Bullet in the Sunday school.

I got hold of Bullet's belt and took him back home, kept him under the care of my parents, and returned to the Sunday school.
