Army shooters carry away many awards

Sri Lanka Army shooters rose to the occasion to emerge overall champions and carry away the Deewar Shield at the ISSF National Championships conducted by the National Rifle Association and held at the Electronic Firing Range at Army Camp, Panagoda.

During the national championships, several new national and Sri Lanka records were established by M. M. S. Samarakoon of Army in the Rifle men, Mrs. W. M. P. D. Ranasinghe Army in the Rifle women, E. M. Senanayake of Army in the Pistol men and Miss. Ruwini Abeymanne of NRC in the women Pistol.

The Best Performance overall men went to M. M. S. Samarakoon of Army while Mrs. T. A. N. A. Thennakoon of Army was the best performer in the women's overall.

In the junior and best civilian events, Suranga Fernando of NESSC performed the best, winning seven events of the ten events worked off.
