The scenic splendour of Hatton
by Beverley Jansz
Hatton is the ideal location for its climatic and scenic splendour,
The beautiful view of speeding trains from an array of luxury hotel
confines of Sri Lanka's hill country, is a unique feature in Hatton.
The mist-clad mountains, sprawling tea estates and gushing waterfalls
add lustre to Hatton. The lip up trains at night that pass through lush
green tea estates in Hatton, is a magnificent sight.
Tourists visiting Nuwara Eliya have made Hatton a stop-over paradise
for an assortment of attractions. Most of the tourist hotels in Hatton
have been built on rocky terrain.
Hatton is fast becoming one of Sri Lanka's most popular tourist
destinations and during the recent past a number of tourist hotels have
been built to cope up with the demand from both foreign and local
tourists.
Peak Rest
Peak Rest is built on a beautifully located mountain in close
proximity to the Hatton town. The hotel surrounded by waterfalls and
lush tea plantations, offer a picturesque setting for rest, relaxation
and some great time out.
The friendly services extended by Managing Director K. Sugmar and
staff, have made tourists both foreign and local feel they are at the
'peak of hospitality', during their stay at the hotel.
Peak Rest has 14 well appointed guest rooms with all modern
facilities and is the first tourist hotel at the entrance of Hatton.
The main attraction to the hotel is Adams Peak which is only a
30-minute drive from the hotel. The plus point at Peak Rest is that the
Colombo Badulla 'Udarata Menike' and 'Podi Menike' trains and other
trains run adjacent to the hotel, and at night tourists enjoy a
panoramic view of the lit-up trains.
The restaurant serves the very best in Western, Eastern, Chinese and
Sri Lankan culinary delights.
The hotel organises safaris for tourists to visit Nuwara Eliya, Adams
Peak, Sri Lanka's most beautiful waterfalls, 'Devon' and 'St. Clare'
which are in close proximity to the Peak Rest.
Peak Rest is owned and managed by leading hotelier, K. Sugmar who
also owns and manages the Tea Garden Complex at Watawala and Talawakelle
Resthouse.
