Observer-Bata Cricket Awards on Wednesday
The 28th OBSERVER-BATA Schoolboy Cricketer
of the Year awards ceremony will be held on October 4 at the BMICH at
6.00 p. m. On that day, two young men - Nalanda schoolboy Gihan
Rupasinghe and that fine all-rounder Rohan Saliya Tennekoon of Kegalu
Vidyalaya - will have a night to remember as they will rightfully adorn
the tag: Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2006 and Outstation Schoolboy
Cricketer of the Year 2006 respectively.

Champions Trophy is on my mind - Moody
Sri Lanka coach Tom Moody talking to the media at the SLC
Headquarters prior to the departure to India for the Champions Trophy
said that his main focus and concentration lies here in Sri Lanka and
this Champions Trophy is the most important thing on his mind and has
very little distractions with regard to that. The former Australian
opener and the present Sri Lankan coach dispelled any speculations of
taking up the coaching job of Australia which falls vacant after the
2007 World Cup.

Tony Opatha opens Academy with Moors
Former Sri Lanka cricketer (before the country obtained full
membership of the ICC), Tony Opatha, has opened his own Cricket Academy
in partnership with the Moors Sports Club which is to be opened before
mid November.
