Vaas joins English county Middlesex
LONDON, Sept 30, (AFP)
Sri Lanka seamer Chaminda Vaas will play for English county side
Middlesex in the 2007 season, the club announced on Friday.
The 32-year-old, who has taken 307 Test and 354 one-day wickets, will
play a crucial role as Middlesex look to recover from being relegated
from the county championship first division this year.
Middlesex chief executive Vinny Codrington said: “Vaas is a
world-class player who Sri Lanka have very kindly made available to us
for next season.
“His bowling is ideally suited to the Lord’s wickets and he’s proved
himself not only as a world-class bowler but also as a useful lower
order batsman. We are thrilled he’s joining us.” |
