Inaugural Inter-Provincial Swim Meet Nov.17 and 18

The Interim Committee of the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU)
has made arrangements to hold the inaugural Inter-Provincial Aquatic
Championship on November 17 and 18 at Thurstan College swimming pool.
The four-in-one aquatic meet-swimming, diving, synchronised swimming
and waterpolo has attracted a large number of competitors from Central
Province, North Central Province, Eastern Province, Southern Province,
North Western Province, Western Province and Uva Province.
Twenty two events including 4 relays will be worked off for both men
and women in the swimming championships. All heats and preliminaries
will be held during the morning session commencing at 9.30 a.m. All
finals will be held in the afternoon starting at 2.30 p.m.
There will be one-metre, three-metres spring board diving and
platform diving. All diving events will commence at 11 a.m. each day.
Synchronised Swimming will consists of only teams and routine
combinations. These events will be held on November 18 at 4 p.m.
Waterpolo for men and women will be played on a knockout basis and
the teams have been divided into two groups. The two group winners will
clash in the final in both men and women. The waterpolo matches will
commence at 5 p.m. on both days.
The champions in all four swimming, diving, waterpolo and
synchronised swimming will be awarded the SLASU challenge shields. In
addition, the best swimmer men and women, the best diver men and women
will be selected and trophies will be presented. |
