JHU to inform President of impending LTTE attack

The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) will inform President Mahinda Rajapaksa of impending plans by the LTTE to attack Jaffna to create a war situation in the Peninsula.

JHU Leader and Puravidya Chakrawarthi Ven. Ellawela Medananda Thera told the Sunday Observer that the party has received reliable information of LTTE preparations to attack Jaffna.

He said they had received information, especially from Tamils living in the North and East that the LTTE is getting ready for a mission in Jaffna and informed the government.

"The LTTE is now planning to move all their carders strangled in Toppigala to Somawathi and from there to Vanni. The LTTE carders are still in Wilpattu", he said.

According to Ven. Ellawela Thera, the party believes that there are Sinhalese who are spying for the LTTE for monetary gains. "We have information that there are Sinhala people who provide information for money to the LTTE. We request the public not to get caught in the LTTE's net and betray the government, which has a desire to sweep terrorism out of the country", he said adding that the JHU also calls upon the public to provide information about them to the security forces.

He said that there was no war in the country now and only a military exercise to defeat terrorism. The Ven. Thera said that the armed forces should attack the terrorists to safeguard the people of this country.

"There is no cast, political party or nationality for the LTTE. They killed people belonging to all communities.

It means that this is the time to defeat terrorism. We all despite our differences should join hands together to end terrorism", Ven. Ellawela Thera said.
