49th Battle of Mangosteens March 23 and 24

The 49th annual 'Battle of Mangosteens' between Kalutara Vidyalaya and Tissa Central MV will be played on March 23 and 24 at Public grounds at Kalutara.

Kalutara Vidyalaya has recorded 21 victories while Tissa Central MV has won six times and other 22 matches have ended in draws in the series which began in 1949. Kalutara Vidyalaya last won it in 2005 while Tissa Central's last win was in 1983.

All-rounder Chinthaka de Silva who leads Kalutara Vidyalaya has scored 495 runs and claimed 47 wickets for the season. Meanwhile, Shamil Lahiru will captain Tissa Central. He has scored 256 runs including a top score of 60 against Minuwangoda Nalanda college.
