Once surrounded by the splendour the royalty of Travancore the
bustling city of Trivandrum still sits amidst its past glory. There are
still many monumental evidence that reminds one of the past that had the
Maharajahs of Travancore rule this city with grand fanfare.
The Temple of Sri Ananthapadmanabhasvami built during the rule of the
Maharajahs to revere Lord Vishnu is visited by every Hindu that visits
this old city thronging with crowds all round the year.
One amongst the many attractions on offer for tourists visiting this
exciting city of Kerala today is a visit to the backwaters connecting
Alleppey and Kollam, which is the southern gateway to the backwaters, on
ce used widely during Dutch rule.
