JVP takes UNP to task

The JVP yesterday blamed the main Opposition UNP for discouraging the Sri Lankan armed forces at a time they engaged in an invaluable service in the Northern District to protect the country's territorial integrity from the LTTE.

JVP Parliamentarian K. D. Lalkantha said that this was clearly seen when the UNP refrained from voting when the Emergency vote was taken up in Parliament on Thursday.

He also blamed the UNP of holding press briefings at this juncture and making various statements without appreciating the services rendered by the armed forces in the battlefield.
