Kirin to celebrate 20 years of tea imports to Japan

Kirin Beverage Corporation, a leading soft drink and beer
manufacturing company in Japan will celebrate the completion of twenty
years of importing tea from Sri Lanka next month.
Canned Kirin Tea and other Canned Kirin products such as Kirin Beer,
Kirin Coffee and other canned drinks are available in Japan from vending
machines.
The chairman of Kirin Beverages Corporation Yoshikasu Arai and a tea
specialist and advisor of Kirin Corporation T. Isobuchi will arrive in
Sri Lanka to participate in a ceremony to mark twenty years of tea
imports to Japan.
Books and donations will be provided to schools in tea estates under
a project to be launched during their visit to Sri Lanka. Boards
carrying the slogan "Kirin sends a Big Thanks to Sri Lanka" will be
displayed on the Gampola-Nuwara Eliya roads.
The Ex Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Bennet Cooray who
coordinated the Kirin-Sri Lanka tea sales said that canned iced tea is
becoming increasingly popular among the Japanese and the Europeans. He
said that the longstanding business ties he has with Kirin Tea
specialist Isobuchi since 1984 was a big success.
The Kirin Corporation purchases tea from selected tea-estates and
from the open market. The chairman and the tea specialist of Kirin
Beverage Corporation met Sri Lanka's Ambassador in Japan Ranjith
Uyangoda at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Tokyo and discussed future plans
to strengthen trade and friendly ties with Sri Lanka. |
