Sri Lanka are drawing inspiration from their 1996
World Cup victory ahead of their match-up with New Zealand in the
next week's semi-finals. Sri Lanka stunned India in a group game in
1996, beating them again in the semi-final before going on to lift
the trophy.

National side yet to be approved
The Sri Lanka national rugby side is down to
play Arabian Gulf in their first game of the Asian Nations
Tournament in Sharjah on Friday (April 27) and are scheduled to
leave the island on Tuesday (April 24) on our own Mihin Air in its
inaugural flight to Dubai.

Asantha de Mel correct to 'rest' Murali and Vaas:
Asantha de Mel - the former Sri Lankan paceman,
is the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board's Selection Committee
and he did the correct thing in keeping both Muralitharan and Vaas
out of the Super Eights match against Australia, as Sri Lanka will
have to meet Australia in the final if we got through our semi-final
against New Zealand.
