Tania wins three events at KDSDF tourney

12-year-old Tania Krishnamenon of Hillwood College, Kandy won three events at the Open Tennis Championships of the Kandy District Sports Development Foundation (KDSDF) played at the Garden Club Tennis Courts.

Tania won the girls under 13 singles, girls under 15 singles and girls under 19 doubles partnered by Kaushalya Sirimalwatte.

Then in the women's open doubles, Kaushalya Sirimalwatte, a student of Mahamaya College has qualified to enter the final of the women's open singles beating veteran player Mala Dissanayake.

Under 7 mixed singles: Champion Harith Wijeweera (5-2) runner-up: Deweena Parija.

Under 9 boys singles: Champion Azam Niyaz (7-5) runner-up: Dharshana Jayasinghe.

Under 11 boys singles: Champion Dilantha Dissanayake (7-1) runner-up: Azam Niyaz.

Under 11 girls singles: Champion Hirmini Weerasekera (7/2), runner-up: Mahesha Gunawardena.

Under 13 girls singles: Champion Tania Krishnamenon (7-0) runner-up: Harshani Ranasinghe.

Under 15 boys singles: Champion Inam Niyas (7-3), runner-up: Pramod Udugampola.

Under 15 girls singles: Champion Tania Krishnamenon (7-1), runner-up: Malshani Ranasinghe.

Under 17 boys singles: Champion Dilentha Dissanayake (7-1), runner-up: Tania Krishnamenon.

Under 11 boys doubles: Dilantha Dissanayake and Thashitha Ratnakumara (7/6), runner-up: M. Weerasekera and M. Hassan.

Under 15 boys doubles: S. Niyas and I. Niyaz (7-0), runners-up: M. Weerasekera and B. Weerasekera.

Under 17 boys doubles: D. Samarasekera and M. Hanan (7/6), runners-up: M. Kumudun and T. Aluwihare.

Under 19 girls doubles: Tania Krishnamenon and Kaushalya Sirimalwatte (7/2), runners-up: Hasara Kulatunge and Pethini Herath.

The finals of women's open doubles and singles, girls under 19 doubles, boys under 19 doubles and singles will be worked off today (Sunday) at Police Tennis Courts, Asgiriya, Kandy.
