FICA to tour Thailand
CRICKET: The Fingara International Cricket Academy (FICA) Junior team
who emerged champions in the under-14 Inter-Academy Cricket Tournament
and won the Nelson Mendis Trophy will be undertaking a tour of Thailand
from April 23 to 30.
The FICA under-14 team led by Chamodh Wickremasinghe will play three
games on tour. These talented young cricketers were trained at FICA
which possesses five nets with different pitch conditions, three bowling
machines and several other state-of-the-art facilities.
One of the unique features of FICA is the bio-mechanic analysis,
which is the only one of its kind in the region for monitoring and
fine-tuning the techniques of the players, four outdoor pitches, ground
fielding practices etc. FICA intends organising tours to other cricket
playing nations in the future to provide exposure to its talented
youngsters.
FICA has a team of dedicated full-time coaches and consultant coaches
with plenty of experience.
They learn the finer points of the game from its Cricket Ambassadors.
Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara, and also have the services of
foreign coaches in the calibre of John Dyson and Trevor Chappel to
improve their skills.
