Sandaruwan and Aravinda steal the limelight at Fox Hill Super Cross

MOTOR RACING: Gayan Sandaruwan and Aravinda Premadasa were the stars
at the 15th annual Fox Hill Super Cross yesterday at the Sri Lanka
Military Academy track. Aravinda Premadasa who lost the SLARDAR
chamionship last year after three consecutive years once again came back
to limelight winning the second stage of the SL - Cars GT, Cars upto
3500 cc.
Earlier in the first stage he was placed second behind Dinesh
Jayawardene. Meanwhile Dinesh Deheragoda last year champion was placed
third in both events yesterday.
In the motor cycling racing event was Gayan Sandaruwan who thrilled
the Motor racing fans amounting to over 30,000 with his dare devil
riding.
Gayan who appeared in three events won one and was placed second in
the first stage behind Pasindu Peiris. But tragedy struck for Gayan in
the final event of the day open event Racing Bikes. He was the race
leader from the word go in the 6 lap race. He was a treat to watch for
his well controlled jumps and cornering on sharp bend.
On the final lap and the last jump he landed on a bike that fell just
few meters away from the finish line and was thrown off completely
beyond the line.
The resulf of this was not finished due to this incident. Gayan was
rushed to hospital but brought back as there were serious injuries. His
father said that he will be brought to Colombo for a further medical
examination.
Young Pasindu Peiris too did well in driving and riding first he won
the GL - H cars upto 1600 and later was placed second in another event.
Soon after driving to victory in 1600 cc event he went onto win the
group MX motor cross bikes event ahead of Gayan Sandaruwan.
