KOICA Fellows launch website
The fellows of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)
launched their website recently with the aim of promoting economic and
cultural ties between the countries.
It was organised by the Association of KOICA Fellows in Sri Lanka (AKOFE)
at the Korean Ambassador's residence in Colombo. Ambassador Kwon Yung
Dal said since its launch in 1991, KOICA has trained over 600 Sri
Lankans on human resources development covering sectors such as economic
development policy, rural, agricultural, health and environment
development.
AKOFE was set up by the KOICA Fellows with the aim of providing a
forum to promote a spirit of fellowship among members, to promote
cultural ties between the two countries, to advise Sri Lankan
participants proceeding to the Republic of Korea, and to assist members
to maintain contact with the developments in all sectors of the economy.
The launch of the website (www.akofe,lk) took place along with the
celebration of the AKOFE's eighth anniversary. KOICA Fellows donated 10
wheel-chairs and equipment for 10 selected differently-able students
from the Gampaha district.
The Ambassador said it is important to train people to face the
increasingly competitive and knowledge-based global economy of the 21st
century with confidence. |
