Tilak resigns

Former Kalutara District Parliamentarian and Treasurer of the UNP Tilak Karunaratne resigned from all posts he held in the party to protest against the disparaging remarks made by the party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe on the victory achieved by the Armed Forces against the LTTE terrorists in the East and insulting the JHU Bhikkhus by referring to them as "Duseela" Mr. Karunaratne told the media yesterday.

He also opposed the newly formed alliance between the UNP and Mangala fraction "National Congress". He tendered his resignation to party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe on Friday from the post of Treasurer, the Working committee, Administration Committee, Management Committee and Religious Affairs Committee.
