India clinch under 19 Triangular series

CRICKET: Right arm medium pacer Abu Nacheem Ahmed produced an excellent spell of bowling to take six wickets for 19 runs to help the India Under 19 team to beat their Bangladesh counterparts by 129 runs in the Under 19 Triangular Cricket Series final at the Colts grounds, Havelock Park yesterday.

The Bangladesh's needing 200 runs to win folded up for a disappointing 70 runs after facing 30.5 overs.

The strong Indian team batting first was restricted to 199 with medium pacers Rubel Hossain and Golam Kibria claiming three wickets apieace.

India were at one stage five wickets down for 115 runs, but an useful 58 run stand between top scorer Tiwary (86) off 88 deliveries with five fours and five sixes and Iqbal Abdulla held the side together.

Bangladesh in their turn were all at sea, with Ahmed bowling at full trottle. His first spell of six overs caused him only six runs for four wickets which virtually paved the way for an Indian win. For Bangladesh Mahamadul Limon (17) and Nazir Hossain (21) entered double figures.
