Gateway-champs of International Schools u.19 cricket tourney
CRICKET: Gateway College, Colombo won the under 19 International
Schools Cricket Tournament conducted by the Association of Principals of
International Schools played at Railway grounds on Sunday 22nd July
2007.
They were awarded the R.L.T. Alles Challenge Trophy.
The 40 overs per side limited over tournament, was conducted on a
league basis, followed by quarter-finals and semi-finals.
In the quarter finals Gateway beat Leighton Park by 8 wickets and in
the semi-finals, Gateway beat Lyceum, Wattala by 69 runs. Gateway beat
Lyceum, Nugegoda by 26 runs in the final played at Railway grounds.
Derrick Ruston of Gateway College won the 'Player of the Tournament'
award.
Pramuka Jayawardana of Gateway won the Best Fielder's Trophy and
Nadeesh Wickramage of Gateway won the Man of the Match Trophy. The Best
Bowler's Trophy was won by Dinusha Fernando of Lyceum, Wattala and the
Best Batsman's Trophy was won by Heshal Silva of Lyceum, Nugegoda.
