Jayani "shoots" St. Joseph's to win under-15 title

BASKETBALL: St. Joseph's Girl's School, Nugegoda emerged
champions of the All-Island Schools 'A' Division Under-15 Championships
for Girl's conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association (SLSBA)
beating Sirimavo Bandaranaike BMV by 70 points to 43 after leading 39-18
at half time.
Jayani Nugi (31) of St. Joseph's Girl's School was adjudged the Most
Valuable Player of the tournament while Sanduni Perera (26) was the Best
Defensive Player. Sirimavo Bandaranaike BMV's Thushani Rajapakse (36)
was adjudged the Best Offensive Player.
In the semi-finals, St. Joseph's Girl's School beat St. Lawrence's
Girls School 79-21 after leading 42-8 at the breather, while Sirimavo
Bandaranaike BMV beat Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya 38-13 after
leading 28-6 at "lemons".
St. Lawrence's Girl's School won the Consolation final beating Holy
Family Convent, Bambalapitiya 50-24 after leading 38-20 at half time.
In Group 'A', Sirimavo Bandaranaike BMV beat St. Bridget's Convent
48-20, St. Paul's 44-27, St. Lawrence's 34-22, while St. Lawrence's beat
St. Paul's 43-42 and St. Bridget's 72-38 with St.
Paul's beating St. Bridget's 43-42. In Group 'B', St. Joseph's Girl's
School beat Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya 122-20 and Maliyadeva BMV
67-9, while Holy Family Convent beat Maliyadeva BMV 37-27. |
