Prabhakaran loses command - Asian Tribune

Reports reaching Colombo reveal that Velupillai Prabhakaran, leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam has lost his commanding position in the separatist outfit. It is reliably learnt that the LTTE leader is suffering very badly from his fluctuating chronic diabetes.

According to Dr. Rambukwella, Prabhakaran is seriously ill and has been affected by his fluctuating diabetic conditions.

According to Minister Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella, Government spokesperson for Defence and National Security, Sri Lankan intelligence personnel monitoring LTTE's daily activities have not heard the voice of LTTE leader since the middle of November 2007.

Dr. Rambukwella said that according to reports reaching Colombo Velupillai Prabhakaran, leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam has lost his commanding position in the separatist outfit.

According to Dr. Rambukwella, Prabhakaran is seriously ill and has been affected by his fluctuating diabetic conditions.

It is reliably learnt that LTTE leader is suffering very badly from his fluctuating chronic diabetes. It is further revealed that at present the outfit's activities are in shambles and two senior rival leaders have taken over the day to day activities.

Sri Lanka Government's intelligence agency which is monitoring LTTE activities in the Wanni says that the two rival leaders - Intelligence Chief Shanmuganthan Sivasankaran alias Pottu Amman and Thamotherampillai Sivanesan alias Soosai are controlling and running the day to day affaires of the outfit.

When the Asian Tribune asked whether anyone approached the Government for allowing Prabhakaran to be hospitalised in some hospitals in Colombo or about facilitating him to leave the country for hospitalisation in another country, he said that so far they have not received such a request on behalf of Prabhakaran from anyone.

He also said that the Government intelligence is well aware that a medical team from India including Tamil doctors from London managed to enter the Wanni through boats from India to examine the condition of Prabhakaran and provide medication.

When the Asian Tribune asked why those doctors illegally entering the Wanni were not confronted and arrested, Dr. Rambukwella said that sea is a vast area and they managed to slip into the Wanni.

Dr. Rambukwella told the Asian Tribune that according to their intelligence report the two rival leaders are heard putting out conflicting commands to their cadres.
