Govt grants massive relief for 2.7 m consumers

New tariff to help those using under 90 units

Around 2.7 million electricity consumers islandwide whose monthly consumption is less than 90 units will be granted a massive relief by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) on the directive of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Rs. 20m profit targeted from banana exports to ME

CIC Agri Businesses targets a profit of Rs. 20 million this year from its exports of banana to the Middle East markets, said CEO, CIC Agri Businesses, Keerthi Kotagama. He said the company started cultivating on an 80-acre block in Palwehera last year and earned Rs. 15 million from exports.
