Water - our life blood
Water, is a natural resource which helps us in many ways. Its main
use is quenching our thirst. All the other varieties of drinks come
second to “water”. We can drink any amount of soft drinks to quench our
thirst, and still not be satisfied but a single glass of water can
easily quench our thirst.
We use water for our day-to-day work; to wash clothes, vehicles, and
clean ourselves by bathing.
It also helps in the survival of plants. Like humans, plants also
cannot live without water. For our survival we need both water and
plants. For plants to survive, they need water. Just as much as we have
advantages from water, there are disadvantages too from it because some
natural disasters occur mainly due to water. They are floods, droughts
and the tsunami disaster.
Floods occur due to heavy rainfall over long periods of time and when
there are no proper outlets for water to flow. Because of floods some
people lose their living places and their sources of income such as
agricultural crops. Some are prone to diseases which are caused by flood
waters. Many end up without meals, clothes and other basic needs because
of floods.
Droughts are caused due to cutting of trees. Drought means a period
in which there is no water for cultivation, to drink and so on. Because
of unplanned cutting of trees, certain areas get too heated and all the
rivers, ponds and lakes dry up. The ultimate result is animals,
sometimes even man, dying without water.
We can see how water affects our lives. It is our life blood. In
order to protect this valuable resource and treasure, we must build more
tanks and good irrigation systems like our ancestors did. We must
protect the waterways. We must also educate the people about water
management. We must teach them to use water sparingly during their daily
routines and minimize wasting this resource.

Water is the life blood of our Earth. It is very essential for every
living being and plant.
Rain brings water to streams, lakes, waterfalls, tanks and rivers.
Rivers flow to the ocean.
People pollute water in many ways. Pollution destroys life. Man has
to work with nature, not against it.

Water is very useful. Animals and plants too cannot live without
water. Water is precious. We should not waste water. Water is used for
drinking, bathing, cooking and washing. It is very essential for every
living being.
Rain and snow are the main sources of water. Rivers, lakes and seas
are also other sources of water. People pollute water. Waste from
factories and houses is thrown into lakes, rivers and streams.Water is
valuable for us and it needs to be kept clean, always.
