Gama Neguma to build a new Lanka

The Gama Neguma program 2008, launched by the Ministry of Nation
Building and Estate Infrastructure Development was inaugurated in five
districts Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Matara, Kalutara and Hambantota
during the weekend. The objective of the Gama Neguma islandwide program
is to build a new Sri Lanka in keeping with the Mahinda Chintana
development plan.
Rs. 33,241 million has been allocated to the Ministry of Nation
Building and Estate Infrastructure for the Gama Neguma and the other
development projects this year.
Secretary to the Ministry of Nation Building and Estate
Infrastructure Development W. K. K. Kumarasiri said that the government
has planned to implement the program in 2008, 2009 and 2010 in three
stages. The country has been divided into six zones and a minister has
been appointed to be in charge of each zone, he said.
He said that the program would be implemented in three areas
infrastructure lifestyle and spiritual development. The government has
decided to give priority to rural lifestyle development this year.
Priority will be given to projects that help to increase local products
he said. |
