Eat a balanced diet to stay healthy and strong
By Nilma Dole
Today, the students of Giggles International School eat a balanced
diet. They bring red rice, chickpeas, green-gram, cowpea, yams and
plenty of nutritious home-cooked food in their lunch boxes instead of
junk food.
“A balanced diet is important to stay healthy and strong”, was the
skit presented by the Giggles students at the breakfast show organised
at the school recently. It highlighted the fact that we all need to eat
nutritious food to stay healthy and strong. “A balanced diet consists of
proteins, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, minerals and water”, said the
students.
Principal, Giggles International School, Mrs. Thushani Koralage
stated, “We hope children will stop eating junk food and eat nutritious
food and make it a habit to eat healthy food”.
The school has thereby set an example for children everywhere to eat
traditional Sri Lankan meals and to make good food decisions, which is a
must for today’s generation. |
