Leo Burnett and Triad create history

Adfest show in Thailand :

Leo Burnett and Triad created history by winning silver and bronze medals respectively at an international advertising awards show - Adfest 2008, yesterday. Leo Burnett Solutions Inc. (LBSI), the local office of internationally acclaimed advertising agency network, Leo Burnett Worldwide, marked a major milestone, and created local advertising history by winning the country's first ever Silver at a recognised international advertising awards festival.

The agency's innovative and engaging communication for ODEL - the 'Harry Potter Magic Coffee Cup'- walked away with this top honour at Adfest show in Thailand yesterday.

This multiple award winning piece has been widely acclaimed by local and international advertising juries. Its win at Adfest 2008 demonstrates the power of the idea which has appealed to both local and global audiences.

Its simple yet effective communication power has been recognised and lauded by many advertising professionals.

This award winning execution - for one of LBSI's longest standing client - ODEL - was created by Leo Burnett's Ramesh de Silva, and was executed by the team at Arc Worldwide Sri Lanka, with the aim of promoting sales of the latest instalment of the Harry Potter book series, and featured a mysteriously self-stirring coffee cup. Managing Director, Leo Burnett Solutions, Ranil de Silva was delighted with his team's success. "It is a dream come true.

To win a metal at an award show of this calibre is definitely an immense honour, and to also be the first agency to bring home a Silver from an International awards show, when we are just 8+ years old, is definitely the icing on the cake," he said. Meanwhile, Triad became the first 100% Sri Lankan Ad Agency to win a medal at an international awards show.

The Triad team secured the Bronze award in Integrated Communications category for its social service outdoor campaign "Makeup" created for the Environmental Foundation of Sri Lanka.

A concept which impressed the international jury panel at the recently concluded 'Chillies 2008' with the only Gold to be awarded at the show.

This award winning campaign aligns it self to Triad's corporate vision to take the communication industry to the next level, transcending commercial communication objectives to those which have the power to inspire positive change in the society at large.

Celebrating 15 years in the industry, being recognized as the 3 times winner of the national ad awards The Chillies and being responsible for creating some of the most memorable communication campaigns of all time, Triad sees this outstanding win as the stepping stone to the global advertising arena and placing the brand's footprint on the global creativity map as Sri Lanka's "Global Local".
