Young and famous, a name synonymous with haute couture, fashion and designer wear creations for Hollywood celebrities and an incredible world renowned clientele he has taken Sri Lanka to greater heights creating a niche in the industry globally: Dinesh Chandrasena, the only designer for the eminent ‘Claire’s Collection’ designer wear, a leading clothing company in USA quintessentially has shown the world that Sri Lanka is no second best.

Acknowledging local talent now an international benchmark; the ‘first live fashion mobi-cast’ in South Asia came alive in Colombo last Friday when Dinesh Chandrasena’s debut fashion show took the ramp amidst a distinguished gathering.

The National mobile service provider, Mobitel in collaboration with Galle Face Hotel, Colombo and Orient Lanka showcased the glamorous evening of entertainment with Mobitel creating a niche for the first time in Asia by providing a live telecast of the fashion show using the latest super 3.5G technology via M3 enabled 3G hand phones; a new paradigm which enabled as many enthusiasts the opportunity of viewing Dinesh Chnadrasena’s sensational creations.

And for those who missed out on the show don’t be disappointed; there are plans to telecast the show on the Independent Television Network (ITN) in due course.

For the young internationally acclaimed designer whose celebrity based clientele includes Cindy Crawford, Shania Twain, Halle Berry and a number of Miss America, Miss USA and Miss California winners, being able to showcase his creations in Sri Lanka for the first time and be a part of the first mobi-cast of a fashion show in South Asia was an indeed memorable moment in his life.

The stunning creations on display portrayed a range of pastel shades beautifully designed glamour wear to earthy colours and a range of bright shot colours teamed with heavily worked shimmering actual crystals, one of a kind hand embellished garments; complimenting beauty with beauty as the beautiful international models and world renowned beauties, Beauty of the World 2007 Claudia Hein, Miss Germany 2007 and others took the catwalk flaunting the beautiful designer outfits by Dinesh Chandrasena.

Having accomplished his dream to showcase his creations to a Sri Lankan audience and taking back with him memories of a great day and time back home, Dinesh Chandreasena on the other hand is also left with poignant reminiscences having lost his very dear mother Delerine Munzeer on Tuesday, April 8; a reputed journalist and comrade of many who share their sorrow with Dinesh today.
