Aesop’s fables

Retold by Panchamee Hewavissenti

A wasp came and settled on a python’s head and started stinging endlessly. Due to the flagitious irritation, the python made a piercing cry of pain and sought a way to drive off the enemy.

Wanting to get rid of the enemy and far more to take revenge from it the offensive python had no choice but to keep its head under a wheel of a bullock cart which was on the move. Both the wasp and the python were killed when the bullock cart ran over them. What a foolish decision it was to die to kill the enemy?

Moral of the story

This fable shows how people make foolish decisions when they face situations that irritate them and the enmity is such that they even choose death in order to destroy their enemies. Examples of such nature are seen in society when we hear about suicide bombers. They do not care for their valuable lives, their desire of destroying the enemy being much stronger.
