Peterites beat Antonians

RUGBY: St. Peter’s College beat St. Anthony’s College by 13 points (1 Goal, 2 Penalties) to 3 points (1 penalty) in their under-20 schools rugby match at Nittawela yesterday. At the short breather the winners led 10-0. Antonians who are on a losing streak this season are yet to taste victory.

They already have lost to St. Thomas, Kingswood and Isipathana. Fitness and line out throwing were the major concern for the Antonians in this game, where they could not secure their own throw in.

They have to go back and do the basics correctly as they will face an acid test next week when they lock horns with their traditional rivals Trinity. Peterites scored their only try through Dilshan Paul. The try conversion and Penalty kick at Goal were taken by Harsha Weerakkody. For Antonians Tharanga Bandara banged over a penalty.

Referee Aruna Rankothge.
