Did terrorist poison dogs?

Police probing the Katubedda bomb blast last Friday where 23 persons died and 72 persons were injured when a terrorist targeted a passenger bus and exploded a powerful bomb in a shrub along Katubedda-Piliyandala road are trying to ascertain whether the three dead dogs were poisoned to prevent them from barking at them. The carcases of the dogs were found at the scene of the explosion.

The Police Media spokesman, SSP Ranjith Gunesekera told the Sunday Observer that organs would be forwarded to the Government Analyst for a report.

Meanwhile, police are probing the statement made by an eye-witness that he saw a terrorist detonating the bomb while hiding in a shrub close to the road. Forty-nine persons taken in for questioning by the police, will be produced before the Moratuwa Magistrate and are likely to be released except for one suspect, the Police Spokesman said.
