Balagolla Police and Kandy Ladies softball champs

SOFTBALL: Kandy Ladies beat Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy in the final of the six-a-side softball cricket tournament for women organised by the Kandy District Sports Development Foundation. The matches were played on May 31 and June 1 on the Police grounds, Kandy under the 'Gamata Kreedawa' concept.

In the men's final, Balagolla Police beat Katugastota Eksath team in the final. Altogether there were 36 teams (men and women) from all over the Kandy District that participated in the tournament.

In the men's tournament, in the semi-finals, Katugastota Eksath beat Dailagala S.C. and Balagolla S.C. beat Wattegama S.C. while in the women's tourney, Kandy Ladies beat Nirmana Sri Lanka team and Mahamaya beat Pushpadana in an exciting semi-final by one run (Mahamaya 52 and Pushpadana 51) to enter the final.
