Indian cars putting out more CO2
India's Centre for Science and Environment says new cars are emitting
more carbon dioxide, a green house gas responsible for global warming.
The green organisation said an increasing carbon emission hints at an
increased oil consumption feature of these new vehicles, be it a bike,
small petrol car, diesel car or even the much desired four-wheel
drivevehicles.
CSE's analysis of the CO2 emissions tested by the Automotive Research
Association of India in vehicles produced in different time periods
found that while a post-2000 petrol car model with 1,400 cc engine emits
143 grams of CO2 for every km it runs, the post-2005 models of same
engine size emit 173 grams per km.
