Pakistan HC inaugurates Jinnah Hall project
The High Commissioner of Pakistan, Shahzad Chaudhry, inaugurated the
newly refurbished Jinnah Hall project in Kandy, completed with the
assistance of the government of Pakistan on June 22.
The Jinnah Hall, named after the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam
Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was founded with the assistance of the Government
of Pakistan immediately after partition.
Later, in subsequent years, the Pakistani government kept assisting
in uplifting and expanding the facility, which has now acquired the
status of an icon of Pakistan-Sri Lanka friendship.
The High Commissioner of Pakistan Shahzad Chaudhry distributed copies
of the two Sinhala translations of famous Pak books on Buddhist Gandhara
among researchers and academics.
He also donated several books on Pakistan to the Vice Chancellor for
the Library of the University of Peradeniya. |
