Sri Lanka - Japan Friendship Marathon July 6

MARATHON: Sri Lanka - Japan friendship Marathon 2008 will be held on July 6 at the University Grounds, University of Moratuwa from 6 a.m. onwards.

There are four races in all - Men’s full marathon (42.195 km), University Students (Open) and invited schools for girls and boys and the Road Race of 10 k.m.

There are big prizes to be won at the marathon. In the Open Men’s category, the winner will get Rs. 50,000/=, a trophy, medal, certificate air ticket and treadmill, Second Place: Rs. 35,000/=, a trophy, medal and certificate; Third Place: Rs. 25,000/=, a trophy, medal and certificate; Fourth Place: Rs. 10,000, medal and certificate; Fifth Place: Rs. 5,000/=, a medal and certificate; Sixth Place to 10th Place: Gift Vouches, a medal and certificate.

University students (girls and boys): 1st Place: Rs. 25,000/=, a trophy, a medal, certificate, air ticket. Second Place: Rs. 15,000/= a trophy, medal and certificate. Third Place: Rs. 10,000, plus a trophy, medal and certificate.

Invited School Students (Girls and Boys): 1st Place: Rs. 15,000, a trophy, medal and certificate, 2nd Place: Rs. 10,000, a trophy, medal and certificate; Third Place: Rs. 5000, a trophy, medal and certificate.

The first 25 finishers of the Open Men’s full marathon will receive medals, up to 10th place winners will also receive a medal in 10 k.m. Road Race will receive a Sri Lanka Athletic Association (SLAA) approved certificate.
