Ag-Biz 2008 ProFood ProPack exhibition concludes today
The Ag-Biz and ProFoods ProPack exhibition, the largest international
processed food, packaging and agri business exhibition in Sri Lanka
which was opened on Friday concludes today at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike
Memorial Exhibition Centre.
The Ag-Biz Exhibition conducted for the seventh successive year
consists of about 100 industry related stalls such as Foreign and Local
Suppliers of Seeds and Nursery requirements, Fertiliser, Agro Chemicals,
Organic inputs, Drip and other Irrigation equipment, Agri Machinery and
Tools, Technology and Information Suppliers, Alternate Energy Suppliers,
Research Institutes, Marketers and Exporters, Logistic Suppliers, Animal
Husbandry related inputs and producers, Certification and Testing
services, Landscaping, Forestry, Trading Houses, Financial and other
services, Educational Institutions and Regional Farmer Associations. The
exhibition enables the public to purchase their requirement of seeds,
fruits and vegetables as well as rice and poultry products directly from
farmers.
The annual Ag-Biz and Farmer Awards will be held at 11.00 am today
under the patronage of Minister of Agriculture Development and Agrarian
Services Maithripala Sirisena.
A seminar organised by the Sri Lanka Food Processors Association (SLFPA)
was held on Friday. Among the special attractions are cookery
demonstrations, food tasting and sampling, discounts on food items and
seminars on agriculture and processed food. It is organised by SLFPA,
Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging, Ministry of Industrial Development,
Processed Foods Development Initiative (Pvt) Ltd, National Agribusiness
Council, Packaging Development Centre and Lanka Exhibition and
Convention Centre.
