Minister with action plan on HR in Geneva

Minister of Human Rights Mahinda Samarasinghe is leading a delegation
for the ninth session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) meeting
which will begin in Geneva from tomorrow.
Prior to his departure to Geneva, Minister Samarasinghe told the
Sunday Observer that the UNHRC meeting will help Sri Lanka to brief the
participant foreign delegates about the welfare facilities that have
been already provided by the Government for Internally Displaced Persons
(IDPs) in the country.
The delegation includes Secretary, Ministry of Disaster Management
Human Resources Prof. Rajiva Wijesinha, Ministry of Defence, Legal
Consultant Mohan Peiris and Deputy Solicitor General Yasantha Kodagoda.
Minister Samarasinghe met a number of high-ranking officials who arrived
in Geneva on Friday to attend tomorrow's meeting and held extensive
discussions in regard to the current situation in Sri Lanka and the
Government's effort to curb human right violations.
