themselves of a berth in the International Cup semi-finals after
registering three convincing wins at the Singer-SriLankan Airlines
International Rugby Sevens organised by Kandy Sports Club and
co-sponsored by Amaya Leisure PLC and worked off for the second day
at Nittawela yesterday.

IPL players can go ahead and retire if they want to - Arjuna
Insisting that he would not let a handful of
members of the Sri Lanka team to have their own way and calling the
IPL a “private tour’, Sri Lanka Interim Committee Chairman, Arjuna
Ranatunga said that he would not budge from his stand to have Sri
Lanka honour its tour obligation with England next year in
April-May.

Colourful opening ceremony
BEIJING, Sep. 6 - The 2008 Paralympics got under
way at the National Stadium here with a colourful opening ceremony.
Over 4,000 athletes from 148 countries, including Sri Lanka, will
participate in the Beijing Paralympic Games.
