Twenty two new records at Masters Athletic C'ships

Ten new records by men and 12 new records set up by women highlighted
the opening day of the 22nd annual Sri Lanka Athletic Championships for
men and women over 35 years organised by Sri Lanka Masters Athletics
which began at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.
Over 750 male and female athletes from 18 districts in the Island
including the North-East are vying for the P. H. Amaradasa Waidyathilaka
Memorial Trophy for the champion district.
A high standard of athletics was witnessed yesterday with the final
selection of the team for the 15th Asian Masters Championships in
Thailand from 1-5 December 2008 expected to be based on the performance
of this championship.
