85th Nikini perahera on grand scale

The 85th annual Nikini perahera of Seruwavila Tissa Vihara begun yesterday. The perahera and other poojas have been organised on a grand scale after the area was fully liberated by the Government troops.

The historical Tissa Vihara Mangala Rajamaha Viharaya and its sacred area have been proposed as a world heritage, so the celebration has been organised in a manner to promote peace and harmony among different religions and communities, a press release from the Ministry of Nation Building said.

The final perahera well be held on September 14.
