Former principal SHC Galle passes away
Sister Mary Adrian Doran who arrived in Ceylon in 1950 as a Sister of
Charity of Jesus and Mary and became popular as the Principal of the
Sacred Heart Convent (SHC) Galle, for quarter century passed away on
Friday at the Provincial House, Jawatte Road, Colombo 5.
She graduated from London University (Bedford College) with an
honours degree in French and also obtained a higher Diploma in Education
before embarking on her teaching career at St. Francis College,
Letchworth, Herts, England.
According to senior nuns and old girls of the College, she was
responsible for moulding them to what they are today and fondly recalls
the 'pranks and fun' they shared with her.
The cortege leaves Jawatte for Sacred Heart Convent, Galle, today for
burial tomorrow in Dadella, Galle at 10.30 a.m.
His Lordship the Bishop of Galle, will celebrate Mass in the Chapel
of the Sisters of Charity, Galle.
