Zardari wins Pakistan Presidential Election
ISLAMABAD, Sept 6, 2008 (AFP) - Asif Ali Zardari, the widower of
slain Opposition Leader Benazir Bhutto, was elected President of
Pakistan on Saturday, Election Commission officials said.
The party of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif accepted
defeat in Saturday’s Presidential Election, saying it hoped winner Asif
Ali Zardari would be “apolitical” as head of state.
